Aura Pura – Spiritual Wellness App Design for a Brazilian Platform with 500K+ Downloads

The Challenge

This wellness app UX design project for Aura Pura focused on creating a culturally authentic and emotionally engaging spiritual platform. Users can connect with healers, book sessions, explore compatibility, and receive AI-powered tarot guidance in one seamless experience. The biggest challenge wasn’t technical – it was cultural. This couldn’t be another minimalist wellness app with muted colors. Brazilian spiritual culture is vibrant and deeply personal. The design needed to reflect its energy, warmth, and the depth of South American spiritual traditions.
Cultural authenticity went beyond visuals. The imagery had to represent the diversity of Brazil, not the typical European features seen in many wellness apps. The content needed to resonate with local practices and beliefs, while interactions with healers had to feel warm and personal.
The technical side was equally complex. We had to design two distinct experiences within one app: one for users seeking guidance and another for professional healers offering services. Healers required tools for live streaming, one-on-one sessions via video, audio, and text, as well as profile management with ratings and specializations.
Language added another layer of complexity. While the app was designed in English, it needed full localization for Portuguese speakers. This required cultural adaptation, as spiritual terminology carries specific meanings in Brazilian Portuguese.
Finally, AI had to feel authentic rather than robotic. Users ask deeply personal questions about relationships and growth, so responses needed to feel thoughtful, human, and emotionally relevant.

Our Approach

We structured the redesign into several clear phases:

1. Research & Analysis

• Analyzed the spiritual and wellness app landscape, from meditation to astrology platforms.
• Identified key gaps: lack of community, personalization, and cultural authenticity.
• Defined a product direction focused on engagement and daily interaction.

2. Cultural & Visual Direction

• Built a visual identity inspired by Brazilian culture.
• Created a natural green color palette
• Selected a dynamic, high-contrast typeface aligned with the brand.
• Created custom illustrations.

3. UX Strategy

Logo Design: From Animal Spirit to Sacred Geometry

The logo exploration began with Estreya’s vision of an animal symbol representing healing and spirituality. We explored multiple concepts, but as we refined the brand’s essence, it became clear the solution needed to be more universal and adaptable.
The goal was to create a symbol connected to nature, evoking calm, healing, and personal growth. As the logo would serve as the app icon, it had to be vibrant, recognizable, and easy to understand.
We found the answer in a stylized mandala – a symbol of wholeness, inner harmony, and spiritual growth. Its soft forms and symmetry evoke feelings of peace, trust, and inspiration, while the circular structure reflects the cyclical nature of personal development.
Flexibility became a key strength of the logo. Designed to adapt across the app’s color palette, the mandala maintains its visual integrity and symbolic meaning in different contexts, from vibrant greens to softer tones.

Meaningful Horoscope

For many users, the horoscope becomes part of a daily ritual.
We designed this experience to feel personal, calm, and emotionally engaging from the very first glance.
The screen focuses on clarity and mood instead of overwhelming users with information. A soft visual center, intuitive navigation between days, and personalized zodiac context help users quickly connect with their current state.
To deepen the experience, we introduced moon phase insights. This adds another layer of meaning to daily guidance and helps users better understand the connection between their emotions and natural cycles

Personalized Tarot, Powered by AI

A key part of the wellness app UX design was ensuring AI interactions feel human, personal, and trustworthy. Tarot becomes a space for both quick guidance and deeper, more personal exploration. We designed this experience to support different user intentions, from light daily rituals to meaningful, question-driven insights. Users can choose between two distinct modes depending on their needs.

• Daily Fortune – a fast and intuitive way to receive guidance for the day. Users draw a card in seconds and get an immediate interpretation, making tarot part of a simple daily habit.
• Ask AI – users can ask a personal question and receive a tailored tarot reading. AI generates a personalized response based on selected cards, helping explore relationships, career, and personal growth in a deeper and more meaningful way.

Synastry, Designed for Deeper Understanding

Synastry transforms compatibility into a refined, deeply personal experience. It allows users to explore the dynamics between themselves and others with clarity and emotional depth.
Whether it’s a romantic partner, a potential match, or a colleague, the experience reveals not only an overall compatibility score but also a nuanced breakdown across key aspects of the relationship.
Instead of surface-level insights, users gain a deeper understanding of connection, helping them navigate relationships with more awareness and intention.

Healer Profile

The healer profile becomes a curated space where users can explore expertise, build trust, and choose the right type of interaction.
The booking flow is designed to be seamless and intuitive, allowing users to select session type, duration, and schedule with minimal friction. Profiles also highlight experience, reviews, and key metrics, helping users make confident and informed decisions while maintaining an ongoing connection through messaging and follow features.
Users can choose a session format depending on their needs:

• Video Call – real-time, face-to-face sessions for deeper and more personal interaction.
• Voice Call – a more flexible and lightweight way to connect without video.
• Chat Report – a structured written reading delivered directly within the app.

Live Sessions & Community Interaction

Live experiences were designed to feel immersive, interactive, and emotionally engaging. Users can not only receive guidance in real time, but also participate in a shared spiritual space through live sessions and community-driven interactions.

• Live Streaming – healers can broadcast sessions to a wider audience, allowing users to join, observe, and interact in real time. During live sessions, users can actively participate through comments, reactions, and virtual gifts, creating a sense of presence and connection.
• Group Sessions – guided experiences where multiple users join simultaneously, enabling shared practices and collective energy.

Premium Membership & Referral Growth

Our goal as designers was to create a subscription experience that feels visually compelling and easy to understand.
The combination of strong visual emphasis and clear structure ensures users notice this entry point, pause, and engage with the offering.

• Premium Subscription – unlocks a wide range of exclusive features, offering a more personalized and enhanced experience. To ensure users notice and engage with this flow, we used expressive illustrations and a distinct color palette that draws attention and encourages exploration.
• Referral Program – users can invite friends and receive premium access, creating a simple and engaging growth loop.
